One Day Trip in Jeju Island With My Family
May 2017 was the happiest time for me because
finally I can visit Jeju Island for the first time with both of my parents. Since
we have 1 full day only to explore this beautiful island, so we decided to just explore the east side of this island.
Jeju City
We choose to stay at Jeju city (Jeju-si) area
cause it’s not that far from airport, and there’s an intercity bus terminal
that provide various routes. Yes, we plan to explore Jeju with their convenient
public transportation. We took bus no.701 in the bright morning to start our
journey (check here for newest updated route)
Weoljeongri
After 1,5 hrs on bus with nice sight of nature
and rural scenery, we arrived at Weoljeongri beach stop. To reach the shore
line, we need to walk through wide fields and village with rocky fences (Jeju
island speciality). After 400m long walk, we finally see the amazing soft
white sand with calm crystal blue water and lined windmills in the distance. My
parents really happy in here because we don’t have beach in our hometown. There’re
also some cafes along the street with cute furniture. I bought Hallabong
juice (Jeju tangerine) with dolhareubang shape bottle for 3,000 won.
Seongsan Il Chulbong
Then we continue to the next destination with the
same bus route to the most popular tourist destination in Jeju, Seongsan Il
Chulbong. You need to pay 2,000 won to enter this UNESCO World Heritage
attraction. You can choose to go down the hills to meet water, or going up to
the crater that already filled by the greens. But yeah, prepare your stamina
to explore whole area. But don’t worry, both young and even old people doing
their hiking here. My parents also walks in full of enthusiasm, while seeing
beautiful wide ocean and city landscape scenery from above. After tired walking,
I tried Hallabong Ice cream for 4,000 won. You can also buy some souvenirs in
some shops here.
Gwangchigi
Our next Stop is Gwangchigi beach (4,000 won taxi
fare). This beach has dark sand with
unique rocks as their shore line. We visit this beach because we want to take
photo of whole Seonsang Il Chulbong shape. There’re not much people in here,
so you can take a lot of pose freely for your instragamable photo. Across the
road of the beach, there’s also canola field. But, you need to pay 1,000 won
first if you want to take beautiful picture there.
Seopjikoji
The last destination at east Jeju is Seopjikoji, a
scenic plateau. This area became more famous after being used by some Korean dramas.
The nature offered in here is worth the long journey. We should be able
seeing canola field and unique building there.
Food
|
For delicacy, we visit seafood restaurants along seohaean-ro
that face to the wide sea with airplane on the dusk sky. We eat Haemul
ttukbaegi (seafood hotpot, a must when visit jeju because it’s so delicious), Jeonbuk
Mulhui (Raw abalone with cold noodles, a really unique dish), and another boiled
fish with hot spicy sauce as our main course. Just like any other Korean restaurant,
they also give so many side dishes, marinated crab, salad, seaweed, kimchi, and
katsu. Well, my parents like the dish a lot.
